Main information about the service
Theimport of products from harpseal pups (Pagophilus groenlandicus) and hooded seal pups (Cystophora cristata) into Czechia for commercial purposes is prohibited.
If you intend to import products from seal pups of the above species into Czechia, you must obtain an exemption from the ban on importing products from certain seal pups for commercial purposes.
You may be granted an exemption from the ban on importing certain seal pup products for commercial purposes by the Ministry of the Environment upon application, provided you can prove that the seal pup products are the result of traditional hunting by the Inuit in accordance with the applicable laws of the country of origin.

How to get the service
What do you need when solving the service electronically
You must submit an application to obtain an exemption from the ban on importing products from certain seal pups for commercial purposes.
An application for an exemption from the ban on importing products from certain seal pups for commercial purposes must include:
- a completed Registration Card form - see Document Request Forms (Annex 2);
- aproper justification of the request , together with proof that the conditions for granting the exemption are met, that these are products from seal pups resulting from traditional hunting by the Inuit in accordance with the legislation in force in the country of origin;
- proof of payment of the administrative fee - see Information on the payment of CITES application fees.
Where and how to solve the service electronically
Please send the completed application with all annexes either:
- through the data mailbox (data mailbox ID: 9gsaax4)
- or by email to the Ministry of the Environment (email: posta@mzp.cz). The email request must be signed electronically.
Applications are dealt with in an administrative procedure and a decision is issued within 30 days from initiation of the procedure. (The procedure shall be initiated on the date of receipt of the application.)

The fee for electronically processed service
You must pay a fee of CZK 1 000 to apply for an exemption from the ban on importing products from certain seal pups for commercial purposes.
These fees are levied in accordance with item 61(1)(d) of the ‘Tariff’ to Act No 634/2004 Coll., on Administrative Fees.
The Ministry of the Environment accepts only applications accompanied by a receipt for payment of this fee.
You can demonstrate proof of payment of the fee by:
- a copy of the proof of payment by bank transfer
- a postal order stub showing proof of payment by post
For both forms of payment, please use the account of the Ministry of the Environment No:
19-7628001/0710, variable symbol 631.
When paying the fee, please fill in the variable symbol 631 and indicate your name on the postal or bank order.
