Main information about the service

Every person engaged in organic farming must have a valid contract with a control (certification) organisation authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture (the Ministry) to carry out inspection and certification in organic farming.

Those interested in doing business in organic farming must choose one of the following control organisations:

The selected control organisation will carry out an initial inspection at the applicant. Based on the result of this inspection and the conclusion of an inspection contract, the applicant will submit a written application for registration.

The person will be registered on the date of delivery of an error-free application for registration to the Ministry.

Does this apply to me?

If you want to produce, prepare, distribute or store organic products or products from the transitional period, or import such products from a third country or export them to a third country, or place these products on the market, you must register (notify your activity) with the Ministry and the organic farming control system.

This obligation does not apply to retail establishments that only sell organic food to final consumers in consumer packaging. This means, for example, that they do not repackage them but only take them from the supplier, place them in a store and sell them to final consumers. However, an online grocery shop (e-shop) must be registered!

The registration obligation does not apply for public catering. Public catering is certified by control and certification organizations according to their private standards. Furthermore, the registration obligation does not generally apply to products that are not of agricultural origin or are not food or feed (e.g. cosmetics, clothing, cigarettes, etc.).
